Lesson 1: Underpinning Ideologies & Frameworks

This lesson starts the course with some underpinning ideologies and frameworks that underpin the intersecting histories of people and place. We discuss larger ideologies around colonialism, dysfunctional theology, whiteness and white supremacy, and sexism and patriarchy. We also discuss ideologies specific to our sector such as ecological thought and transcendentalism. We begin with these ideologies and frameworks because some were not born in particular moments in time, but instead crop up repeatedly in various events over time.
