This multi-lesson course (number of lessons TBD) will be around cultures and structures of exclusion. We will begin with the importance of belonging in organizations. Then we will talk about cultural hallmarks of organizations that impede DEIJ work (such as perfectionism, risk aversion, unnecessary urgency, and attachment to the written word). We will also have a lesson that lays out some organizational structures we take for granted that impede DEIJ work (such as top down hierarchies, employee surveillance, strict billing of hours, professionalism standards, specific hiring practices, etc.)
